Lima Peru CCM (MTC)
week 4
Hola Familia y Amigos,
Sorry if this isn't a very long email because they came and got us during our breakfast and said our email time was now instead of later in the day. We have to leave for the temple soon, so I won't have the hour that I normally plan on- here we go! ;)
This week has been awesome! The other day, we were in class and my teacher Hermana Loayza told us to think of a question that we've had in life and to pray and then open our scriptures to a random chapter or a chapter that we like and she promised that we would find our answer. She was right. It's so amazing how the scriptures work and how they can be our own guide to whatever we need in life. If we humbly ask in prayer and search the scriptures for answers with real intent we WILL find our answer. Never doubt the scriptures. They are AMAZING :)
Saturday we went out proselyting! It was a crazy experience. Let me just say my eyes have been opened. This is such a different world down here and the people here are so ready to hear the truth! Hermana Harper and I were lucky to have a teacher with us and we ended up getting in to a home of an old woman named Enslema. She is Catholic and she knows that we are God's children. You could just see the light in her eyes and could see that the Lord has been preparing here to receive the gospel. We were in her home for like 45 minutes and it was awesome. We had her read Moroni 10:4-5 and she LOVED it. She just kept saying how beautiful it was. We taught her how we pray and we knelt down on the ground and prayed with her right there. She was so thankful for us and for giving her the Book of Mormon. She kept saying that she wanted to read it so that was pretty awesome. Before we left, I invited her to church and we gave her the address. So I'm not really sure if she went but I know that she felt the Spirit and loved the message we had to share. I'm sure she will be baptised some day :)
We watched a video of Elder Holland and on Sunday and it was awesome. Man, he realy does light everything up! haha We watched a video of Elder Bednar speaking earlier that day and he made a joke about how if they were given topics to talk on in conference it would be like " Ok, Elder Bednar, you talk about families and then Elder Ballard you can talk about keepin the commandments, then Elder Holland, you light it up!" Haha it was pretty funny. But in Elder Holland's talk to the missionaries it was all about converting ourselves first on our missions. Just like we want our investigators to join and stay strong in the church, the Lord wants us to stay strong in the church. How can a missionary go out and preach His word without first obtaining it himself. I can definitely say that this gospel is true and that the Lord is on our side. He loves us more than we could ever imagine and that's such a comfort to me while i'm our here in a foreign country doing his work. He WILL always be there to help me and we need to always remember that. Thank you mom for the sweet email and for your advice and words :) I appreciate all the love and support of everyone so much!
Mom I am SSSSOOO sorry about no pictures yet! They dont have anything like that here for us to use so I think im going to go find a USB cable today after the temple. I think Hermana Loayza might help me today later though because she wants some of my pictures so I'll see what I can do!!
Oh and did you ever send in the rest of my tithing from my last paycheck? Just want to make sure ;) Also do you think you could find and send me some pictures of my art, I can't believe I didnt bring any samples because people want to see them. Preferably the ones of Halli and Averi and anything else you can find :) like some photography and my ones with the quotes. Thanks I love you for everything you do and for being the BEST MOM EVER!
Only two more weeks left today here at the CCM!! I love you all so much and thank you all for the emails! Also thank you for the pictures! I loved them! Stay safe this week and remember that YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD AND HE IS AWARE OF YOU. :)
