Hola Familia y Amigos,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENNI!!!! LOVE YOU!!!
Also tell Averi happy birthday this Saturday for me mom!! Give her a big hug and a kiss for me :)
Mom thank you for the email and the great pictures! Also thank you Michone!
Mom- I don't know how I didn't catch from last email of what I read that you were sick. I am glad you are feeling much better and are enjoying Arizona!! Always fun when you get to go down in a nice private jet ride ;) and back home too- you are surely spoiled!
Also I still haven't gotten your package yet.. Still hoping! ;) but I did receive a Christmas package from Aunt Laura and Uncle Tom!! Thank you thank you so much Aunt Laura and Uncle Tom!! I have already started using my free time to draw a little! Love everything I got!!
Started out this week with going to the temple!!! Great spriit and way to start out the week :) Holy cow the new video in the temple is soo different but soo cool. That was a great experience and blessing to be able to go this past week :)
This past week we got three investigators to come to church! Nayeli and Alejandra came together with Esperanza and her family and they loved it. Esperanza also went up to get Eduarda in the morning but she couldn't come... So anyway, my comp and I walked into Relief Society and there she was! She said that she ended up getting there around 9 and she went into the Quechua class like she did last week so we didn't see her when she got there. But we were so happy to see her there and that she came all alone :) We are working on getting her and her husband baptized and right now our goal is for February 8th. So be praying that we can complete with that goal!!
Yesterday we went and helped in one of the Relief Socity activities. The theme was 'Gather our Sisters'. We all met up at the church and got separated into companionships. Then each companionship got assigned two or three inactives to visit. Hna Aguirre and I each went with different people to help them and to help us get to know more people. Me and my comp. ended up contacting a cute cute inactive sister who has two kids. She hasn't been able to come for work so that's a bit tough but we had a good lesson with her and she is going to try and do what she can to figure things out to be able to go back to church. Hna Aguirre went with one of her recent converts and another sister in the ward and they actually went to a couple of our investigators because there weren't anymore inactives by the time they got their assignment haha, but they ended up being able to contact Nayeli's mom and The other sister, who they were with, is actually friends with her! So that definitely helped and will help Nayeli's mom progress a lot already having a good friend in the church. :)
So this last week in our district meeting, we talked a lot about how we can be better at responding to our investigators questions by using the Book of Mormon each time. It's so cool to be able to open up a scripture that has just the answer for our investigators. We did a little practice in our meeting and it was cool how well we were actually able to invite the spirit more by being able to open up a scripture and use that scripture directly to answer the question that our investigator had. Sometimes over time we get too caught up in just answering with our own knowledge because it's so much easier. But if we are willing and able to use the scriptures to answer each question our investigators have we will be able to see a lot more progress and spiritual growth with them.
Also President Jenson of the temple talked in one of the mission leader conferences about the 6 senses that we have: Hearing, seeing, feeling, tasting, smelling and feeling the spirit. He talked about how we learn much more when we activate as many senses as possible. So that should be our goal as missionaries. When we open the scriptures and have our investigators read for themselves, they are using more senses than they would if we just teach them and answer their questions.
So that is our goal right now, to be able to help our investigators grow more spiritually and to be able to learn more clearly. And the very most important thing that can help them progress spiritually is partaking of the sacrament where they use each and every one of the 6 senses.
It's cool how we can use psychological studies to be able to learn how to grow more spiritually right? ;)
So that was my favorite thing we focused on this week :)
Today for pday, our goal was to be able to go up the mountain where there is a little snow, but the drive up there took so long that we ended up just enjoying the amazing area around us. Holy cow it was so fun and soo beautiful!! I got some good pictures to help you imagine it ;)
Thank you everyone!! I love you all and I am always praying for you all back home!!
Love,
