Hola Familia y Amigos,
Mom, thank you for always sending a great letter :) I read mainly just little parts right now but thank you thank you for always being a great mom!
Last Sunday, Hermano Nacho, Claudia's husband invited us over for lunch on Monday when we were at church because he's on the High Council and he is assigned to the other ward that goes to our church. So we had a great time and lunch with them Monday. Good to be able to visit my loved ones in my last area! (I think Claudia posted a picture on Facebook mom)
This week was a bit slow because we were at the clinic a lot for my comp. She has just had a little pain in her stomach which they still haven't really figured out why which is kinda ridiculous but we're going today to a different clinic to see what they can find out.
Gabriel didn't end up coming to church for some reason which was a bummer. We haven't been able to find out why yet but we're working on that. He was supposed to be baptised this Saturday but he needed to come to church this past week so looks like we are going to postpone his baptism a little bit.
Despite the sadness of Gabriel not coming, we went to pick up one of our newer investigotors, Eduarda and she came!! It was a bit of a sacrifice seeing as it started pouring right before we left the house to go up to Chilimarca to get her and all the rain from my raincoat decided to slide on down to the bottom half of my skirt.. Haha so I got to church pretty darn drenched and not dry until the second hour. BUT with sacrifice we receive blessings :) So we were super happy that Eduarda could come and that she was just willing to get ready real quick and leave with us when we went to get her.
Yesterday we were able to visit one of our less actives named Eva. She is older and she lives alone. She had an accident when she was younger and so the left side of her body pretty much doesn't work which makes it super hard for her to walk to do a lot of things with only one functioning hand. But she is amazing and despite her difficulties she does a TON of things. Every time we come visit her, her room is rearranged haha She said she does it all alone! The ward helps her out a ton though which is a great blessing for her. She is so funny and has the cutest personality. She says we are her granddaughters and that our future husbands have to go through her first before we marry haha. We sang a couple hymns with her and just had a great time. She kept laughing when we were singing for some reason haha but it was just contagious and we coudn't stop laughing either. Such a blessing to be able to help her out and laugh with her :)
Ok for my spiritual thought:
D&C 25:12 "For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads."
I love this scipture because I love singing hymns! It really is one of the best ways to feel the spirit and feel the love of our savior :) I've been reading a little about the church when it first started and about the faithful saints who sacrificed everything for this gospel. When things were tough and the trail was brutal, the saints did not cease to unite and sing hymns to boost their spirits. How blessed we are that we can utilize our voices in a way that brings the spirit :) I was reading a story in the Liahona by President Uchtdorf:
He and his wife went to Africa for some church business. As they got to one of the towns, they realized the great light that those LDS people had. He asked them if there could be any happier people in all the world. Despite the many problems and poverty that these people had, they were just so happy and it was contagious. As they started one of their meetings, Pres. Uchtdorf began speaking and shortly after, the lights cut out. In almost complete darkness he ended up sitting down by his wife and the whole congregation sat in silence as they waited for the lights to come back on. Soon a few voices from the congregation started singing a hymn of the restoration. Shorty after the whole congregation was singing and continued song after song until the lights came on again. When they finally came on, President Uchtdorf and his wife couldn't help but cry from the powerful spirit that those people created with their love and memory of their hymns that they so proudly sang. They didn't need hymn books because they knew every word of every song they sang.
I really love this story because we can be reminded that the material things of the world really aren't necessary for our happiness. We can find the simplest happiness in the ability that we have right in ourselves. We have so many loving hymns in our church that we can sing in any moment of any day. If you're having a bad day, try singing a hymn :) I promise it will lift your spirits. The Lord has given us so many blessings and they all are for our happiness. When we take advantage of the things he gives us, we only find that we are more happy and when we are more happy, he is too. :)
Thank you everyone for all your love and support each week :) I love you all and wish a great week for everyone! Take care!
