Dear Family and Friends,
Holy cow! Sorry If I don´t have time to email you all back! Its pretty stressful having not much time to email haha but here we go!
Thank you ALL so much for the sweet emails! Its so good to hear about all of you and how you are all doing! We just got back from the temple and it was lovely! I dont think I have time to figure out how to send pictures yet and I also dont have a usb cord... Soo maybe I'll have to go see if I can find one next week at the store. but eventually you shall be getting some pictures!;)
This week was awesome! Elder Christofferson came this weekend for the celebration of the 100th stake in Peru! Friday he come to the CCM for lunch with Pres Cardon and then afterwards we had an awesome meeting with him and we all got to shake his hand :). but before that, our activity time was right when they were finishing up lunch and we were playing volleyball right outside where they were so I saw him walk over to the door and I just waved at him haha so he waved back and came outside to watch us for a minute. I think everyone was a little nervous to say anytyhing so i finally just said How was your food?! haha he sent it was Excelente! So I got to talk to an apostle and that was awesome :)
Teaching our investigators has been pretty stressful not knowing the language very well but its crazy how much you are humbled and taught to rely on the Lord more. Luckily last night we had a Stress Management lesson haha. Our teacher, Hermano Laurente had us go outside and we raced across the lawn a couple times ( nice to know I can run in my church attire! haha) That was pretty fun. then we went inside and talked all about stress and ways we can relieve our stress. I think I kinda got stressed out talking about stress so not sure if it helped or not haha but oh well. Sundays are awesome here! Very spiritual and they are just my favorite!
I`m not sure if I said last week but our group that came in is the largest group of north americans they`ve every had here in the CCM EVER so the Lords work is pretty darn amazing and how its coming along so much quicker with so many more missionaries :)
Sadly, last Saturday we didnt get to go out and proselyte because it was a big Catholic holiday here but that`s ok. We get to go out next saturday because we only go every other Saturday. I´m still excited for it though! The people here are so willing to talk to us and they are all so sweet. On the bus today I was just standing there packed in with everyone else haha and this older man was just sitting there and read my name tag outloud so I got to know his name and he was just very friendly. It`s always fun to walk around the streets because it`s such a different experience. When you cross the street, you RUN haha or you get hit... But you all know I`m not dumb enough to go without making sure i have enough time to make it across ;) A couple of the teachers went to our district`s session in the temple today so that was really fun to have our teacher, Hermana Loyza there with us. She is so sweet and I feel like she`s just like an older sister except somehow we are different races. haha.
So a little more about the food here. I learned to stay away from too much rice.. haha No comment. The fruit is super good! They have this fruit here that are called granadias I believe, but they are delicious! You crack them open and they look like alien eggs haha, but they are pretty good. Kinda like slimy pomegranite seeds but the seed part in these are very crunchy and add a tart taste to the sweetness. Super yummy. For breakfast every morning they have a choice of eggs, cheese and meat to put on a roll or whatever you want and then bowls with some really yummy thin yogurt. The milk is not safe to drink I think so instead we use yogurt! So they have corn flakes that are thicker than at home and it's so good to use the yogurt as milk! Much more flavorful too ;)
Now for the spiritual message for the week! It's been so cool being able to have so much more study time in the scriptures every day and I love it! I stumbled upon this scripture and I decided it's my new favorite :) Isaiah 41:13 "For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee" Short but sweet :) Those are the best scriptures. Its so awesome to know that just like our own father when we were children, Heavenly Father is always there holding our hands and he is there to help us whenever we need him. WHENEVER we need him. I think sometimes people forget that and we don't all take advantage of his love enough in our life. The next scripture that really touched me was 2 Nephi 32:3 the part that says "Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ." That was very comforting to read and I have the strongest testimony that Granny, Grandma Pat and all my other ancestors are right here with me and they can speak to me through the gift of the Holy Ghost while I am out serving the Lord and also for the rest of my life. Such a blessing to have that knowledge!
Mom, Thank you so much for the LONG email!! haha I think I got most of it read but I had to skim pretty fast to get through it all. I love hearing all about everything and I`m so glad you got some relax time in :) You are a better mom than I could have asked for, remember that and know that I am doing great here. It can get really hard sometimes just being stressed about teaching but it will only get easier and easier. We are meeting our third investigator tonight and the others in our district who`ve already taught him said he doesn`t really care about anything, so looks like we have a bit of an advantage knowing that haha. I think we our basically going to focus on becoming his friend first before sharing too much with him. The best way to convert is through love. As representatives of Christ, we have to represent with Love and compassion for EVERYONE. We had a great little lesson on that and it was really powerful. I'm sorry I haven't had much time to answer all your questions with trying to get everything else in!
Sorry, I forgot to mention that my pdays will be on Tuesdays (obviously), NOT Wednesdays. We didn't know last week until Monday, that is why I messed up saying Wed. It should stay the same these next few weeks but the time I will be emailing will skip around. Just know it should be Tuesdays ;)
I love you ALL!!!!!!!!
