Hola Familia y Amigos,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA 4C ONE DAY LATE!!! Happy birthday, one day late, to you. Bap bap baa..... :) Dad, maybe you could sing the rest to her for me? ;)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY 5 DAYS EARLY HALLI SUE!!!!!! Love you!!
Well I was super surprised when I saw the picture of Paige with her Cholita doll!! I seriously can't believe it already got there! But I'm glad I don't need to worry anymore :)
So it was another good week here in the mission. Last Monday, we had brought our investigator Josefina and her kids to the bishop's first counselor's house for a Family Home Evening which went really well. We are really trying to get her married but she has a problem with her birth certificate that's super hard to change here so we are looking to find someone that can help her out with that so we can put a matrimony date and also a baptism date with her family. So we're working patiently with them.
We visited Nayeli's brothers this week and put a baptism date with them. Like I said last week with their dad Pable, now we just need to get them to church. We're praying to know what we need to do to help them not be scared to come to church and make the sacrifice.
So we had an appointment this past Saturday with Joel who has been praying for an answer. We were so anxious and excited to see what happened with him and his answer but he ended up cancelling our appointment right when we were headed to his house. So we called him back to see if we could come Yesterday only to get another message during church saying that he couldn't do that either. So we have been a bit bummed with that but we did call him and ask him a little about how things went. In perfect timing, the phone fuzzled out a bit and we didn't hear very well how things went but Hna Donoso said she thought she heard that some strange things have been happening so he's thinking about each thing that happens and we'll talk about it this Saturday with him.. looks like we just need to be patient. :) I don't think I shared this last week but in our last visit with Joel, he told us about a dream that his mom had about two weeks before. His sister, who was about 19, actually passed away from I think excessive drinking or something in December and they were just barely moving her things out and his mom was having a hard time with that. So she had a dream one night during this time and she told Joel about it. :
She said that she looked up and she could see into Heaven. She also saw God looking down to her and he was saying "hija, hija, no tepreopes, te voy a mandar dos angeles pronto para mostrarte mi camino" ("daughter, daughter, don't worry, I will soon send two angels to show you the right way")
When we heard that we just thought Holy Cow are you serious..That's awesome. So we are really wanting to meet his mom and get to know her. That was such a cool thing to hear and I know that the Lord has been working through us to help this family.
This past Wednesday, we had a really great zone conference. President Dyer talked to us about the importance of the Book of Mormon and he made a new rule that we have to have at least one Book of Mormon in hand per companionship. I've always had a companion that has done that so I have just never thought of having to do it until now. The next day we were walking in the street and I was just looking down at the book in my hand and I felt so strongly the power of it. In that moment I just felt so blessed to have the Book of Mormon right there with me and I could feel so much the protection of the spirit that it holds. The Book of Mormon isn't just any other book. It is perfect. It has power and it is written specifically for US. I know that it changes lives and it changes my life every single day. :)
A little game to play: (hey maybe for Family Home Evening)
Hna Dyer talked about the importance of having "empathy" for our companions and our investigators. We then had an activity where we all got in a huge circle and got a peice of paper. On the paper, we had to write "I (your name) want (other person) to do (anything you want them to do). Well, little did we know, that after we put our papers on, the curse fell on ourselves haha. yep, i had to go sit in the middle of everyone and had to sing I Am a Child of God in Spanish.. with a lisp. haha well I sure did learn the point of the activity and how we can practice having empathy for others. When someone needs our help or they are telling us something that they have a problem with, we should practice putting ourselves in their situation. We should never respond only with sympathy and say "well at least..." We should really take in what they are telling us and if we can't relate in that situation we can at least say "I'm not quite sure what to say but I'm glad that you shared that with me" I really liked that lesson and I have been putting it more in practice this past week with everyone around me. Now, I dare you all to try it :)
So we went and watched the general women's conference this past Saturday and it was amazing! The moment when all the little 8 year olds stood up and sang that song was soo powerful. I didn't get to watch it in English which was a bit different for me but it gave me a huge aspect on the blessing it is that we get to watch conference and listen to the actual voices of those that speak because I sure did miss it!!
I love you all so very much and I'm thankful for you all in my life. :) Take care everyone this week and make sure to always think "What would Jesus do?"
Love,
Hermana Forsey
