Hoping we don't get squirted!
Hola Familia y Amigos,
Thank you Dad for the email!! You always know how to make me laugh and feel loved :) Oh, and yes, I am being a good girl and taking my Vitamin C every day ;)
It sound's like everything is just going great at home and tons of people are getting married and doing great things! Congrats everyone!
So this week has been a week of miracles here in my area. On Monday, I was with Gladys, a member from my ward and we passed by this tienda (little store) by our house and the lady who owns it has always been so rude or just acts like she doesn't want to help us. So every time we buy something from her, I've made it my goal to make her smile. Well, it has been pretty hard haha but this past Monday, as she was attending me, I just started talking to her and asking her about her family. She started to smile as she talked to me!! As she was giving me my change, she just grabbed my hand a little and shook it in a way that said "thank you for caring to show me love". I seriously was sooo happy! haha I finally completed my goal!! We passed by the other day and did the same and she was just super happy and gratetful. It's amazing the miracles we can see when all we do is try to be like Christ and give our love. That was one huge miracle I saw this week :)
Well, before I get carried away with talking about this week, I will tell you all a little about my new comp, Hna Donoso. She is from Ecuador. She has 8 siblings! Looks like my comp finally beat me with that haha. She has 5 brothers and 3 sisters. She has been a member all her life. She has three months in the mission and she's also my little sis in the mission! Her mom was also Hna Huarachi, for only one change though. But that has been fun having something in common like that. ;) So I am kinda her BIG sister;-) and will complete her training...just like big sisters do.
We have had a great week, Hna Donoso and I, and we have been seeing and counting many miracles of the Lord here in our area. This past Wednesday, we went to visit Hna Eva. We decided to bring Nayeli, Alejandra and Jhissel with us too. It was so cute seeing them help Hna Eva and being there with us. As Jhissel saw that Eva can't walk really well, she took her arm and guided her all the way to her house as we walked beside them. Alejandra sat next to Eva and put her arm around her and just showed her love. We read a chapter in 1Nephi and Ale helped Eva with her book and everything because her left arm is paralyzed. We started singing hymns and after the first hymn, Nayeli was like "at least two more!" So we sang too more and decided to just finish by singing everyone's favorite hymns. Nayeli the whole time while singing was tearing up quite a bit and we could all just feel so strongly the spirit of Love that was in the room. The girls really enjoyed serving Eva and helping her out. They could also feel so much of the Love that Eva has for them. They said that they could come back Thursday to help Eva with a few things and so we left them to do that with out us. We talked to Nayeli the other day and she said that they both went and everything went great with that! Alejandra went to a stake camp this weekend so we're sure everything is going great with that. Nayeli came to church even though Alejandra wasn't there and that was a nice little test to see if she really is dedicated to the church without her best friend.
All the other miracles that happened this week:
-Jhissel (who's baptism is this Saturday) wore her cute pink dress to church that she didn't want to wear before. ;)
-Lucio (an investigator of about 2 months) and his family FINALLY came to church!!! (with his wife, and 4 daughters) We went to their house to get them and we all went together!
-Veronica (a family in the ward's aunt) came to church too!
-We got a new bishop and bishopbric this week!
-Our investigator, Gonzalo reminded his wife before we stared with a prayer that we kneel when we pray ;)
-The spirit has helped me in MANY situations this week with speaking and with being the Señor comp and guide for my comp. :)
We have been soo thankful for all the many miracles that we have seen this week and we know that the Lord is watching out for us and helping our area progress here.
Today and tomorrow is a holiday called Carnaval here in many of the South America countries and well, it's pretty much just a huge giant water fight with the whole city. haha But also, there will be a LOT of drunks and parties tonight and tomorrow night so all the missionaries have to be in their houses today and tomorrow by 4. So looks like today, we'll be fighting to not get wet. Its pretty crazy though because everyone drives around in their cars with their huge squirt guns and water balloons or they all walk around the streets in groups with their huge water guns. So it'll be an interesting day haha.
Thank you for everything everyone and for all the love and support! I love you all! Take care this week and don't forget to look for the miracles in your lives!
Love
