Half Way Wooo Hooo!
Hola Familia y Amigos,
Mom and Dad, thank you both for your letters!!
Mom, I'm glad you had a great cruise and week!! Aunt Kris I just love that you take such good care of my mom! Your pics are great!
Dad, thanks for giving me a short (smaller plates) spiritual version of the week ;)
So I officially completed my half way mark this last Wednesday!! Hard to believe but I'm pretty sure it really did happen haha.
We had a great week here this past week. We visited Pablo, Nayeli's dad this past week and put a baptismal date with him. The only problem now is getting him to church. He said that he was going to try coming this past week but he didn't know up. Nayeli didn't either. The hard thing is that they don't have much money and they have to pay to come to church in the trufi that passes for their house. So we are going to find out if one of the member can pass by and take them to church.
We have been continuing visiting the families that we have up in our area. We weren't able to contact Veronica this past week which was a bummer but we visited Josephina and we finally met her kid's dad, Constantino. He is a really good guy and super sweet. So we are really praying and working with them that we can get all of them to church and also help them get married.
We have continued praying lots of hymns with out investigators, especially if they don't have much time when we pass by, we just sing a hymn with them. They always end of happier and more uplifted and it's so cool to see the spirit work in them that way. The little kids always beg for more too haha.
So this past week I decided to start over in the Book of Mormon again. But this time, I am reading more deep and focused. I have absolutely LOVED doing that and I have been really been able to compare Lehi's and Nephi's stories to my life right now in the mission. I read in 1Nephi 3 where Nephi and his brothers go to get the plates from Laban. When Laman goes first and fails, he comes back to his brothers and him and Lemuel already lost hope and wanted to return back to their family. But Nephi said, No, we are going to finish what the Lord sent us here to do.... Well this past week, we had another lesson with our newer investigator, Joel, who I think I talked a little bit about last week. But anyway, last week he told us he wanted us to come back and explain to him the Great Apostasy and why we aren't in the Great Apostasy right now. Well as we were teaching him, we were explaining a few things logically to him and he all of a sudden just started getting mad or scared we weren't sure but he didn't want to here more. He was saying Yeah, I think we've finished talking. We were kinda surprised how all of a sudden he got upset. But in this moment, Hna Donoso and I were just praying soo hard that that wasn't how our visit was going to end and for the Spirit to help us out. So we just kinda started telling him our purpose again and why we were there explaining these things to him. The Spirit seriously was leading us in this moment and we were able to calm him down and help him understand better certain things. He totally did a 180 and said that maybe he didn't pray very well again because he still hadn't prayed specifically about the things we had been teaching him. So I compared that experience with that of Nephi's because we seriously thought in that lesson that we almost was going to lose Joel and that he wouldn't want to listen anymore. But we feel strongly that we knocked on Joel's door for a reason and we weren't going to give up then and there. The Lord is a Lord of miracles and when he sends us to do his work, He will pave a way for us to finish that work. But the trials that come meanwhile might make us want to quite. Well, Nephi's example tells us "Don't quite. There is still hope. Just trust in the Lord" :)
Well I would like to say thank you to EVERYONE who is praying for the missionaries. Your prayers are being answered! Love you all and take care this week!!
Love,
Hermana Forsey
